CACN 2023

BACKSTORY

This year’s story revolves around the contemporary challenges of exploring one’s multifaceted identities within a greater bicutural identity, and how these narratives interact. The drama follows a queer, second-generation, female Chinese-American student who, after her older brother’s passing struggles to navigate and reconcile all the aspects of her identities. In showcasing these themes within our culture, we explore what it means to be Chinese Americans in this day and age, and how one narrative or another does not make anyone “other” or “less than” everything that makes up their unique character.
